Mortgage arrears

A client came in to one of Law For All’s advice clinics for help with possession proceedings. Her home was under threat because she had been obliged to pay a considerable phone bill that her son had incurred and then been unable to pay her mortgage fully.

As her earnings were above the eligibility limit she was not entitled to public funding. We assisted her in drawing up a budget and advised her how to approach the court to be given time to pay off her mortgage arrears.

With the benefit of greater understanding of her situation, she was able to deal with the problem herself.
