Risk of repossession

Our housing team were instructed by the Official Solicitor to act on behalf of a mentally ill woman whose home was at risk of repossession because she owed the capital, and interest of £15,000, at the expiry of the mortgage term. She was unable to understand the seriousness of her situation.

Despite a lack of cooperation from the mortgage lender, we were able to work with the other professionals involved to save her home when her son offered to take out a loan to repay the debt, in exchange for a beneficial interest in the home.
