Very young mother, unable to cope
Law For All were instructed to act in care proceedings for a 6-day-old boy whose mother, aged 13, was herself in care.
Three attempts at assessment of the mother made it clear that her behaviour was erratic; sometimes providing more than good enough care, sometimes descending into total chaos.
On the day of her evidence in the final hearing, the mother could no longer cope; she assaulted her Counsel in the ladies’ toilet and left the court.
The boy was adopted shortly after his first
birthday and is thriving.
